ORTONVILLE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FEBRUARY, 2004 MINUTES
Both the minutes and the treasurer's reports were approved.
Two new members were introduced from MacDonalds: Cindy and Justin
The 2004 budget was discussed. The Chamber Board will establish an annual
budget every October or November, to be approved by the membership. At
this time, the 2004 budget is not approved, and Russ Govette submitted
a proposed 2004 budget. The 2004 proposed budget was passed by membership
with a vote of 20 yes and 0 no.
It was explained that it two individuals from the same company wished
to have voting privileges in the Chamber, dues must be paid for each individual.
If one member wishes to have two or more companies listed under their
name, and the other companies are closely related by line of business
to one another, then the member will pay full dues for the first company,
and 50% of dues for each of the remaining companies. For individuals who
wish to have two or more companies listed under their name, and the companies
represent separate lines of business that are not related, then the individual
will pay full dues for each company.
COUNTY CHAMBER CHAMBER COMMITTEES
Russ Govette attended a meeting of the Oakland County Chamber. This Chamber
is successful because of its many events and the early establishment of
to run the events. Russ circulated sign up sheets for the committees needed
for the Greater Ortonville Chamber: Policy and Procedures Golf Outing
Ambassadors/Membership Fireworks Septemberfest Mixers Christmas in the
Village Business Expo
Susan Reddy reported on the progress of the February
mixer. The mixer cost is $5. There will be door prizes as well as a 50/50
drawing with tickets for $1 each or 6 for $5. The mixer will take place
on February 11, at the Brandon Township Library, from 5:30-8:00 PM. It
is planned to have mixers at various locations throughout the year. A
motion was suggested to have the Chamber sell $5 raffle tickets to win
one foursome to the Chamber golf outing as a door prize. The motion passed
12 yes and 5 no.
The only Thursdays available in April for a Business
Expo were 4/22 or 4/29. Membership voted to have the Expo on 4/29/04.

Current membership stands at 142: 22 honorary members
(15%) and 120 voting members. 68 members still have dues outstanding for
Fred Waybrant noted that advertising is still available
for the AAU tournaments taking place in Ortonville. He also noted that
this is a great opportunity to sell Chamber cookbooks.
Robert Renchik noted that the multi-chamber mixer will
take place at the Palace on February 27. More information is available
