Meeting Minutes – November 2003 Meeting
The Greater Ortonville Chamber of Commerce November luncheon meeting
was held at noon on November 9 at Brandon High School. The minutes
are as follows: The meeting was called to order by President Robert
Renchik. The minutes were approved with one change, and the
Treasurer’s report was approved.
Proposal for Chamber Spending
Russ Govette and Sharon Williams
have been working on a new Chamber spending proposal. Sharon reviewed
a proposed Chamber recommendation for new policies which would limit
Chamber spending to $1,000 without approval of the General membership.
Russ reviewed a flow chart and spreadsheet proposal for a new budget
plan which would more accurately track budget vs. actual spending.
Robert asked Russ and Sharon to bring a joint proposal which would
be voted on at the December meeting.
Website "Sitelets" Available for
Chamber Members
Sally Wilcox provided an update on Design
Solution's Web page "sitelets” which are now available
to Chamber members. A Web “sitelet” is a single Web page
that is linked direcly from the Chamber's Business Directory and provides
the small business an attractive, professional and up-to-date Web
presence. The sitelet will accomodate all the basic info that the
Business Directly already provides, but will additionally accomodate
a color photo (provided by the business), larger logo, business hours
and an area for several paragraphs of descriptive text provided by
the business.
Maintenance includes updating the contact info whenever required.
Photos and descriptive text updated on a more limited schedule. There
will be several designs to choose from. Sitelets are available immediately
for $100 initial creation and $25/annually for maintenance. Sally

Chamber Cookbook Distribution
The Chamber fundraiser cookbooks have arrived two weeks early. Sharon
Williams provided information about distribution. Each business
in the Chamber is asked to sell at least 20 cookbooks. The books may
also be ordered at the Chamber website.For more information contact

New Business Members
Mark Johnson of the new member committee has recently approved
several new members who will make presentations at the next chamber meetup. The new members
offer funding services and merchant services. The new chamber small business members include service companies like Retail Payment Solutions
and Credit Card Merchant Processor . Fanny
Wright requested approval for two new members who will be introduced at the next meeting..
Annual Christmas in the Village
Jane Derry provided an update on Christmas in the
Village, Saturday, September 6 which is sponsored by the Chamber.
Jane and Stacy Kent are chairpersons. For more information

Joanne Gavey of the Brandon Township Library is
looking for children’s readers during the day. Please contact
Joanne at the library 267-627-1460 if you can volunteer.
Jane is requesting $25 donations from each Chamber business to provide
funding for children’s activities. Please send your check to

Taste of Home
Jim Misener advised that the Taste of Home was a rousing success.
There were 20 exhibitors and all tickets were sold. The meeting was
adjourned.
