Meeting Minutes – July 2003 Meeting
The Greater Ortonville Chamber of Commerce luncheon meeting for June 2003
was held at noon on June 3 at the Brandon Township Library. The minutes
are as follows:
The meeting was called to order by President Robert Renchik.
Russ Govette of Fast Signs provided color stickers of
the new chamber logo for members to adhere to their businesses and vehicles.
The minutes were changed to reflect the BGO name change to Brandon Township
Recreation. The Treasurer’s report was approved.
Golf Outing
Fred Waybrant provided information about the combined
golf outing by the Greater Ortonville Chamber of Commerce and Brandon
Township Recreation. Date is August 17, 2003 at Goodrich Country Club.
Price is $75 per person (includes 18 holes, cart and dinner). 8 a.m. Registration,
9 a.m. Shotgun Start. There will be Las Vegas Holes, Closest to the Pin,
Skins and a 50/50 drawing. The combination of the two associations should
provide a bigger and better outing.There will be 36 teams of four golfers.
Fast Signs will provide new signage for hole sponsors. We need all members
to help sponsor and register teams. Proceeds go to future recreation and
Chamber youth scholarships. For more information or a registration form

LBN Networking Extravaganza
Chuck Gifford, president of Local Business Network (LBN)
gave an overview of the LBN mixer to be held on Wednesday, August 6th
from 9 a.m. to noon at the Woodfield Country Club in Grand Blanc. He invited
chamber members to attend as guests. (See complete details in the accompanying

Downtown Development Authority Fundraiser
The DDA will host its First Annual Ortonville Street Machine Super
Show. Date is Sunday, August 3, 2003. All cars and motorcycles
are welcome to enter. The time is 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and the entry fee is
$10. There will be awards, music and food. Voting will be by participants.

Fireworks
Tracy Dayton of Reliv reported that the 2003 fireworks
were a success.
Christmas in the Village
Keri Neuciler of Tupperware is looking for volunteers
to help with the Gingerbread House competition for Christmas in the Village.

Ortonville Night at the Movies
Paul Zelenak reported on the Night at the Movies. They
are unable to advertise the movie to be shown because of logo restrictions.
However, if this first night is a success, there will be more movie nights
next year. Fast Signs donated two large, mounted color signs to help with
advertising in town.
Chamber of Commerce Cookbook
Sally Wilcox of Design Solutions reported that the goal
for publishing the cookbook has essentially been reached but passed out
a final reminder flyer. She and Sharon Williams are making
final calls in an effort to try and get every business included in the
cookbook.
New Chamber of Commerce Website

Solutions advised that the new chamber website is now available. It
can be accessed at www.ortonvillechamber.com. Chamber
of
Commerce businesses who would either like to link their business sites
to the Membership Directory or have a one-page presence of their own should
e-mail Sally through the website. Be sure and watch for Amos Orton winking!
New Business Members
Mark Johnson of the new member committee has recently approved
several new members who will make presentations at the next chamber meetup. The new members
offer funding services and merchant services. The new chamber small business members include service companies like
Merchant Funders Group and EXS Merchant . Fanny
Wright requested approval for two new members who will be introduced at the next meeting..
Luncheon Speaker – Bart Jenniches
Superintendent of Brandon School District Bart Jenniches
addressed the Chamber on pending legislation droppng the number of school
days required to only hourly requirements per year, stating this will
have no effect on Brandon Schools schedule.
Chamber of Commerce August Luncheon
The next Chamber of Commerce luncheon meeting will be held at the Old
Mill Museum. The date is Tuesday, August 5 at noon; cost is $7. We invite
anyone
interested in joining the Chamber to attend a luncheon meeting –
it is open to the public for one meeting to see what we are all about.
MacPhee’s restaurant will be catering food for August meeting. Members
and visitors please call Jill Adair at MacPhee’s
(248.627.2891) if you plan to attend. This will not be a regular business
meeting as we will be touring the museum.
